Minimum requirements

The Clinical Director reports to the Director of Behavioral Health Services and is responsible to supervise the clinical work of the addictions counselors. The Clinical Director is responsible for mentoring, developing, and supervising counselors (staff and interns). Works directly with counselors to analyze, plan, and carry out treatment plans. Participates in agency utilization management and file review processes. Responsible for staying current on contract, Council on Accreditation (COA) and OAR standards and ensuring the requirements are met and maintained. Responsible for budget development and management.

  1. Current certification or license in addiction counseling, or current license as a health or allied provider issued by a state licensing body and one of the following qualifications at time of hire:
    • Five years of paid full-time experience in the field of alcohol and other drug counseling; or
    • Bachelor’s degree and four years of paid full-time experience in the social services field, with a minimum of two years of direct alcohol and other drug counseling experience; or
    • Master’s degree and three years of paid full-time experience in the social services field with a minimum of two years of direct alcohol and other drug counseling experience.
    • 4,000 hours of supervised experience in alcohol/drug abuse counseling

Duties

  • Mentors, develops, trains, and supervises the clinical counselors and interns providing treatment services.
  • Works with counselors to analyze treatment issues, client goals, and develop treatment plans for clients.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of program policies and quality improvement processes.
  • Reviews clinical staff documents to assure completeness, timeliness, and accuracy.
  • Reports issues, trends and/or concerns to the Director of BHS
  • Provides crisis intervention response when necessary.
  • Ensures COA, contract, CCS, and OAR standards are met.
  • Develops and manages New Step budget.
  • Coordinates services with other CCS programs.
  • Assists the director with special projects, assignments, or attends meetings as requested.
